HALIFAX INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
The Master Plan provides baseline and high growth planning direction for phased development to 4.8 million annual passengers and 2,000 peak hour passengers under a high growth scenario. Progressive air terminal expansion concepts were developed which included 36 aircraft gates/stands accommodating domestic, trans-border and international traffic. Evolving flow and congestion issues were addressed through gate rationalisation and air terminal reorganisation. A south Commuter Terminal and a north Trans-border Terminal expansion were planned and have since been constructed.
A new parallel runway site reservation was established to potentially accommodate the long term strategic growth objectives of the Halifax International Airport Authority along with zones for commercial and industrial growth.
